I’m an American artist from Philadelphia who has lived in London and the Cotswolds for many years. My paintings are places I’ve lived, traveled to and from, and hold dear to my heart.
My subjects combine the immediate natural environment, as I see it, with the architectural or interior setting of the painting. I am fascinated by the play between everyday objects and their juxtaposition, where they sit and how they enhance their environment. I love design and details and concentrate on them to express the spirit of the work. My everyday surroundings, at home or on my travels, are my main subjects. It is their essence, emotionally how I react to them, that I try to capture in my paintings. And if you had a hunch that Matisse was my favourite painter, you have got that right.
